Zach and Kerry Maiorca, both Chicago area natives, are the husband and wife tag team behind Bloom Yoga Studio. The idea for Bloom was born out of a desire to create a community where the pursuit of health and happiness is a normal part of daily life.

We believe yoga doesn’t have to be something intimidating, exotic or complicated. The essence of yoga boils down to the practice of being present in the moment. By practicing yoga poses and observing your breath, you can learn to pay attention to what’s going on right now rather than dwelling on the past or the future. Life's richness lies here in the present and that's something worth pursuing, even if it is sometimes challenging!

At Bloom, both beginners and more seasoned practitioners will feel welcome. Our varied offerings include daily yoga classes and special workshops, a variety of massage styles, workshops and classes for families, and a store with books, yoga props and accessories, music, clothing, and gifts.

We’re your friendly spot for yoga, massage, and much more. See you soon in Bloom!

MASSAGE at BLOOM - More than just an occasional 'treat'

Regular massage is essential in these increasingly stress-filled times. Massage may help improve circulation, boost immune system functioning, and release old stress patterns. Just as yoga practice is more beneficial when practiced on a consistent basis, massage is most effective when received regularly. At Bloom, we believe strongly in massage and offer discounted Massage Cards to make it even easier to take care of yourself. See below for information about Massage Cards. Commit to regular massage for your health and well-being, your body will thank you for it!

Wellness Massage

Great for muscle aches, stress relief, and relaxation

Relax with this delightful combination of Swedish, Myofascial Release, and Deep Tissue techniques. Flowing strokes help relax muscles and calm the nervous system, while techniques such as gentle squeezing, compression, and tapping target specific muscles. This style of massage is a wonderful way to reduce stress and release deeply-held muscle patterns.
Specialists: Jana, Julia, Lisa, Sarah, Wendi

Neuromuscular Massage

Therapeutic techniques to address pain patterns

Relieve chronic pain and tightness with this thorough program of recovery. The therapist integrates targeted therapies such as myofascial work, trigger points, stretching, and self-care to address the causes of most neuromuscular pain patterns, producing a long-lasting response. These techniques, combined with analysis of postural dysfunction, can achieve the goal of actually reprogramming muscle behavior. This clinical form of massage can be very effective in treating localized conditions such as sports injuries, recurring tension, tendonitis, TMJ, headaches, and more.
Specialists: Jana, Sarah, Wendi

Thai Massage

Yoga meets Massage

Achieve balance and well-being with this ancient healing therapy. Thai Massage is performed with the client fully clothed and on a comfortable floor mat. Using a combination of compression and passive stretching techniques along with rocking and gentle pulling, the therapist decompresses joints and lengthens constricted tissue. Some of the many benefits include reduction of pain and swelling, greater flexibility, stress relief, and a boost of the immune system.
Specialist: Julia

Shiatsu Massage

Unique and integrative bodywork

Rejuvenate and restore with this therapy which combines the traditional pressure point theory and meridian diagnostics of shiatsu with the muscular manipulation of a gentle sports massage. Shiatsu aims to incorporate the best of both of Eastern and Western body therapies. Performed on a mat or a low table with the client fully clothed.

Pregnancy and Postpartum Massage

Perfect for the mothering year

Nurture your changing body throughout pregnancy and beyond. Prenatal, labor, and postpartum massage techniques help to relieve soreness in the back, neck and shoulders; reduce pain and labor time; improve recovery time; and reduce connective tissue damage after birth. For effective treatment, we recommend a 60 or 90 min session. Celebrate your pregnancy by taking time for yourself. A massage or massage card makes a wonderful baby shower gift!
Specialists: Jana, Julia, Lisa, Sarah, Wendi

Hot Rock Massage

A soothing and deep experience

Treat yourself to this modern version of an American Indian ritual. The therapist uses warm rocks to massage the body, enabling you to enjoy a deep tissue massage without discomfort! Cold stones are used to reduce inflammation. The alternating heat and cold will relax you and stimulate your body's own healing process. For effective treatment, we recommend a 90 min session so you may receive the benefits of both hot and cold stones.
Specialists: Lisa, Sarah

Massage for Runners

Relieve muscle tension to improve your performance

The more miles you run, the more strain your muscles are under. Massage helps prepare the athlete for peak performance, drains away fatigue, relieves swelling, reduces muscle tension, promotes flexibility and prevents injuries.  Massage for runners directly targets and reduces tension in muscles and joints that are most affected by a running regime.
Specialists: Jana, Julia, Sarah, Wendi
