Avtar Nordine Zouareg, also known as Avtar, is an internationally acclaimed fitness and self-development expert, wellness guide, author and motivational speaker. His unique, holistic teaching methods embodied in his Mind Over Body program allow his clients to lead richer, happier and healthier lives.

Because each person is unique, it is not possible to achieve optimum wellness with a one-size-fits-all approach to fitness. Avtar’s approach of “mindful fitness” encourages clients to uncover the personal stumbling blocks that prevent them from achieving long-term success.

Avtar’s own remarkable life story highlights how he overcame huge, almost insurmountable obstacles that would have deterred most people from even thinking success could be possible.

From a sickly Third World child born in the back of a pick-up truck in the Sahara Desert, to a world champion athlete, to a fitness authority to the stars, few have begun with so little and gone so far.

As a youngster, Avtar was able to turn an abject situation into worldwide success. His early life at school in France was doomed from the start because he had three strikes against him. He was noticeably smaller than other school children, he was an immigrant in xenophobic France, and he was afflicted with rickets. He was every bully’s dream, an easy mark that could be tormented without fear of reprisal.

Avtar vows to strengthen his body, mind and soul.

Finally, at age 19, after years of fear and anxiety, Avtar had enough. He vowed somehow to build his internal confidence and remake his body into a force bullies wouldn’t challenge.

Avtar knew he couldn’t change his body unless he changed his thinking. Little by little, he created his own unique mental exercises. With ever increasing workouts and proper nutrition, he transformed himself from a scrawny runt into a world champion athlete, claiming the Mr. France. Mr. Europe, Mr. World, and Mr. Universe titles as if they were his birthright.

At 24, Avtar was the second youngest Mr. Universe. Only California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger held the title at a younger age. While he was proud of his bodybuilding prowess, Avtar’s desire to help others reach their own level of fitness and wellness led him to America in 1995. At first, it looked like Avtar’s stay in America would be short-lived since he had no job and his visa was about to expire.

Avtar named an Alien of Extraordinary Ability.

Then, an extraordinary thing happened. The U.S. Department of Immigration granted (Avtar) Nordine Zouareg a special status reserved for only a few elite individuals. The US Government ruled that Avtar was an “Alien of Extraordinary Ability.”

This rarely offered status is granted to a small percentage of immigrants whose “extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics has been demonstrated by sustained national or international acclaim, and whose achievements have been recognized in the field through extensive documentation.

He settled in Tucson, Arizona, working under Dr. Dharma Singh Khalsa, the world’s leading authority of brain longevity and memory loss. Avtar was put in charge of patient wellness at Khalsa International.

Next, Avtar moved to the renowned Miraval Spa in Tucson, where he established the BodyMindfulness Center. For the next seven years, Avtar worked with thousands of high-profile , A-List clients, including, Oprah, Barbra Streissand, Sophia Loren, Charlie Sheen, Ellen Degeneres, Janet Jackson, John Kerry, Teresa Hines Kerry, Sugar Ray Leonard and spoke at companies such as Lehman Brothers, Carondelet Health Network, The National Institute of Whole Health, LA Sports Clubs, The Atlantic Group NY, and many more.

His holistic methods and charisma won over the toughest of celebrity clients, many of whom credit his mind-centering techniques as the key to their achieving optimum wellness, lasting health and fulfillment. Since 2005, he has been offering one-on-one coaching and training to individual clients and company executives around the globe.

Avtar’s first book, Mind Over Body: The Key to Lasting Weight Loss is All in your Head, was a groundbreaking success, making his mind and body influencing techniques available to a wider audience.

Avtar speaks five languages and holds a Masters Degree in Physical Education, and is a certified wellness coach and personal trainer. Avtar's passions are his family, his work and his spirituality.
